My client a public services company based near Oxford have an excellent opportunity for an

interim Category managerâ€" to come on board for one-year contract, until end of October 2021.

This role will be a combination of working from home and being based in their two Oxford sites at

pre agreed times.


The rate is £175 per day through PAYE plus holiday pay or £241.64 umbrella payrolling company and

the role is viewed as being inside of IR35

Main duties in role:

• Manage a pipeline of work under the direction of the Senior Category Manager that ensures that ODS is able to maintain compliance with PCR2015 and the ODS procurement governance framework.

• Develop detailed sourcing and category plans to maximize effectiveness and efficiency for all aspects of the commercial lifecycle including pre-market engagement, procurement process, contract award and contract management for complex, sensitive and high value commercial projects.

• Prepare market analysis reports and delivery trends so as to develop future category strategies

• Lead on pre market supplier engagement, all stages of the sourcing activities through to contract execution and implementation

• Implement procurement processes to ensure efficiency, cost savings and best practices.

• Work with the Senior Category Manager and finance team to assist with forecasting, budgeting and maintenance of each category plan and the procurement pipeline.

• Actively work with service teams to Develop a deep understanding of the supply market, category and business context using this knowledge to source, liaise and negotiate with new and existing suppliers to improve business and deliver commercial strategies and cost savings.

• Deliver category savings and efficiencies, ensuring end to end category management activities are tracked and recorded

Essential Criteria

• CIPS Advanced or Professional Diploma in Procurement & Supply (L5/L6) requirement

• Experience of leading procurement activities in both the public and private sector

• Experience of managing procurement activities â€"construction, FM,

• Proven experience of drafting tender specifications and evaluation criteria

• Knowledge of commercial contract clauses and the application of such

• Demonstrable project management skills and experience

• Proven experience of managing the end to end procurement cycle and delivering savings and improvements to the service

• Good analytical skills and ability to make evidence based decisions

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Desirable Criteria

• Experience of working across different teams and establishing effective working relationships in a large complex organisation.

• Experience of developing and delivering category plans

• Knowledge of JCT and NEC contracts and relevant use

• Proven experience and od knowledge of the Public Procurement Regulations, EU tendering and commercial procurement

• Commitment to achieving CIPS professional qualification

• Prince 2 or equivalent qualification

• Experience in using e-procurement systems including e-tendering
