Contract Type
Part Time
Daily Supply Teacher, Walsall area

Your new schools
As a daily supply teacher with Hays Education, you will get the opportunity to work in a variety of infant, junior and primary schools. Specialising in the Walsall area, you will be offered work local to you and will experience a mix of schools from small 1 form entry sub-urban schools through to large 3 form entry inner city primary's.

Your new role
Work on a day-to-day supply basis offers you flexibility to choose the days you want to work. Supply work is designed to fit around your schedule whilst still ensuring that our schools are supported with the best teaching staff, when cover is needed. Working on supply gives teachers the opportunity to experience new settings, work with different children and hopefully give you the work-life balance you desire.

On a supply basis, you will be expected to deliver work from pre-set planning (you may sometimes need to use your initiative and think on your feet, too!) You will manage the behaviour of the class and treat all classes that you cover in as if they were your own. You will be expected to mark all work in line with each individual schools marking policy and leave the classroom neat and tidy ready for the class teachers return.

When working on a daily supply basis, it may be possible that the school request for you back again if the cover need is extended so we ask for flexibility in this instance to support the school and provide consistency for the children where possible.

What you'll need to succeed
In order to succeed as a supply teacher, firstly you must have QTS. You will be flexible and adaptable to new settings and will be able to use your own experiences and initiative when going in to teach in new schools. You will need good behaviour management, strong subject knowledge and the ability to adapt your teaching style depending on the class you are teaching. You will need to be reliable and often available to work at short notice.

What you'll get in return
  • Dedicated primary teaching consultant who specialises in recruiting teachers for Walsall primary schools
  • Free online CPD training including Safeguarding and Wellbeing
  • Competitive daily rate of pay
  • £250 high street shopping vouchers every time you refer another teacher to Hays*
  • Holiday pay
  • Pension
  • PAYE and umbrella options
