We are supporting a special school in Dursley who teach primary aged children with SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health needs) and some may have additional needs including, but not limited to ASC (Autistic Spectrum Conditions), SpLD (Specific Learning Difficulties i.e. Dyslexia).

We have been working with this school for a while and are looking for a confident and experienced TA. This role will be ongoing and several candidates we have placed at the school have been offered permanent or long term contracts.

Responsibilities and duties
  • Supporting students in a classroom or on a 1:1 basis
  • Supporting students with SEND with not only academic needs but their social and emotional well being too
  • Guiding students in their work and helping them to develop core learning skills
  • Helping with differentiation to aid the students understanding
  • Helping with life skills lessons and pastoral needs

Essential Criteria
  • A flexible and resourceful approach
  • At least 12 months of recent experience working with children in an education/ care or sports coaching situation
  • Previous SEN experience, ideally SEMH
  • Patient and able to relate to the pupil
  • You will be able to demonstrate strong behaviour management skills
  • Proactive and confident to redirect and try new approaches to learning
  • Happy to work in class and to complete 1:1 work outside of the classroom
  • Have a right to work in the UK (A Valid Visa)
  • Two recent child based references and relevant DBS/ Police checks
  • Access to bicycle, car or near main bus routes.
  • Able to work 8.30-3.30, 5 days per week term time only
