I am recruiting an Interim Accountant to complete a 12 month contract with a successful manufacturing business based in Chester. Reporting to the FD you will be responsible for the day to day operation of a small finance department, all aspects of monthly management accounts and reporting, as well as other ad hoc projects as required.

Responsibilities Include::
  • Management of accounting and manufacturing system and flow of transactions ensuring cut- off and period allocation is correct
  • Control of Import documentation from receipt of import documents, checking freight forwarders calculations and allocation of commodity codes, duty and VAT implications
  • Cashflow management and forecasting
  • Preparation of monthly management accounts including accruals, prepayments, commissions, fixed asset, intercompany, recharges across companies, stock valuations and provisions
  • Payroll amendments to payroll bureau, recharging of payroll across companies
  • VAT, EC Sales, Intrastat reporting and any ONS reporting requirements
  • Preparation of P11d's
  • Company car contract management and interaction with company car users
  • Annual insurance renewals (currently a number of renewal dates through year for different policies)
  • Liaison with Payroll bureau and Accountants
  • Liaison with Bank and credit card company
  • Management of Accounts Assistant

Assist the MD and FD with ongoing projects as required.

Skill sets required:
  • Demonstrable experience of picking up a role with no supervision or handover
  • Management of accounting system including proven use and input to ledgers
  • Able to demonstrate development of systems improvements
  • Proven No.1 / No.2 to an FD at an SME or similar
  • Having dealt with external consultants and service providers
  • Stock control and manufacturing process understanding
  • VAT, EC Sales, Intrastat, Import and Export documentation experience
  • Currency hedging and trading
  • Credit control management

The ideal candidate will be CIMA, ACCA or ACA qualified, part qualified or suitably qualified by experience. You must have worked in a similar role previously and be readily available to start work.
