I am currently recruiting for an experienced Enforcement Officer/Trading Standards Officer who is immediately available to join a team in County Hal, Leicester.

The role is to undertake regulatory enforcement, provide advice and ensure compliance with legislation delegated to the Trading Standards Service. To conduct investigations into alleged offences/breaches and to prepare reports criminal/civil legal proceedings to work other Council services, partners and other enforcement agencies.

The role will involve
  • The inspection of trading premises, including vehicles and farms
  • The investigation of alleged offences and any associated malpractice
  • Preparation of reports on investigations, obtaining witness statements and making recommendations as to further action, preparing correspondence, drafting documents for legal proceedings and giving evidence

Key skills and experience
  • Experienced investigator â€" gathering evidence such as statement taking, evidence recording and contacting other agencies, and with a background in case building/case management leading to prosecution
  • Good communication skills â€" able to communicate effectively with customers and businesses
  • Good analytical skills â€" able to analyse databases for patterns of behaviour/previous complaints
  • Ability to work as part of a team

This is a temporary role, working on a full-time basis (Mon â€" Fri) for an initial 3 - 6 months with potential for the role to be extended or made permanent. The role has as a pay rate of £17.00 per hour PAYE. An Umbrella equivalent is also available.
