Reed Bradford Business Support have a new, exciting opportunity for a Health and Safety Advisor to join our Bradford based client on an ongoing temporary contract. This is great opportunity to provide support to the Head of Health and Safety to fulfil the company’s requirements, you will also have the chance to offer advice and guidance to aid in the operational delivery of the company’s Health and Safety policy across all activities.

Main Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provide health and safety advice, support and services to leaders and managers throughout the organisation in order to assist them in achieving compliance
  • Act as a point of contact for all staff and Directorates on H & S matters as may be appropriate
  • Advise and assist as may be appropriate on risk assessments
  • Support the review and improvement of risk assessments and associated processes, actively seeking opportunities for reducing residual risk, as far as is reasonably practicable
  • Undertake investigations into accidents and or incidents as necessary to identify root cause factors and monitor the implementation of remedial actions and report findings via appropriate channels
  • Attend H & S Panel meetings submitting various reports to ensure appropriate cascade of information and advising as may be appropriate
  • Contribute to the design and delivery of learning and development events and briefings on H & S issues for Faculties and Directorates and the wider university
  • Develop relationships with internal networks to maintain a clear focus on H & S priorities, ensuring that issues are tracked to satisfactory conclusion
  • Ensure that regular effective inspection regimes are undertaken
  • Maintain appropriate records as required by legislation or Company policy

Essential Skills, Experience and Qualifications
  • Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety (Level 6) or equivalent. (e.g. NEBOSH National Diploma)
  • Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. IOSH)
  • Relevant experience as a Health & Safety professional in an operational environment
  • Good communication skills with the ability to interact at all levels of the organisation
  • High level of computer literacy
  • Ability to analyse information and to determine effective solutions
  • Self-motivated with the Ability to plan and organise own workload and manage conflicting deadlines
  • Clear written and oral communication skills with the ability to understand, explain and give advice on processes and procedures
