We have placement opportunities available for a Clinical Coding Specialist Lead available at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust providing the below:
  • Undertake a strategic review of the Clinical Coding function including the potential to use technology to automate/enhance the depth of coding, agreeing future direction with the Clinical Coding Executive Lead and Executive team to fulfil the requirements of the Board.
  • Review service performance and current working methods / systems and make recommendations that will improve both the depth and quality of clinical coding
  • Work with services, particularly Medical Records, the Director of Digital, and with senior clinicians to improve the quality of patient notes, and electronic access to these
  • Review of working practices within the Clinical Coding department, including rotas, working hours and patterns, and in particular the potential for a move towards home-working, within the context of the Trust's draft Agile Working Policy
  • Review the professional development framework and support currently in place within Clinical Coding, including relating to technical training and audit, and make recommendations for improvement

This is an opportunity for an experienced professional with significant experience of delivering improvements across the critical area of Clinical Coding.

In this secondment the overall task is to undertake a strategic review of the Clinical Coding function including the potential to use technology to automate/enhance the depth of coding, agreeing future direction with the Clinical Coding Executive Lead and Executive team to fulfil the requirements of the Board.
