We have long term placement opportunities available for a temporary Voluntary Services Facilitator available at Princess Alexandra Hospital, Harlow.

Responsibilities will cover a number of areas such as;
  • Delivering the management of our Virtual Visiting, Covid 19, Message to a Loved One Volunteers for the Trust; ensuring that appropriate governance processes are followed; checks and assessments are undertaken and kept up to date on the system using relevant IT software.
  • Risk Assessments for Volunteers returning to PAH.
  • Project management as directed using leadership skills and expertise in Volunteering.
  • Managing the return of Virtual Visiting and Message to a loved one Volunteers to ensure that they are placed in areas most suited to their skills and abilities and needs of the patients
  • Keep the personal details and roles of all Volunteers up to date including prospective Volunteers. Organise rotas and provide inductions and support the relevant training.
  • Provide on-going support for Volunteers, monitoring placements to ensure effective employment and role satisfaction and recording this in information systems. Accredit Volunteers and their work.
  • Ensure all Volunteers are aware of the Trust's policies and guidelines on Volunteering and ensure that risk assessments are in place for Volunteer activity.
  • Raise staff awareness of the role and the function of Volunteers. Maintain appropriate communication with all staff and discuss with them ways in which the Voluntary Services can be improved or extended across any one of the Princess Alexandra Hospital's sites of operation.
  • To actively encourage Volunteering with the Trust throughout the local community, promoting equality and diversity.
  • Offer advice and information to Volunteers and external organisations through face to face, telephone and email contact.
  • To maintain databases and undertake any other administrative duties.

This is a full time role and the working hours are Monday - Friday 9:00 - 17:00.

Do you have the following skills …?
  • Education or training relevant to working with the third sector and Voluntary organisations.
  • Experience of working in the NHS or an equivalent organisation.
  • Experience of leading the recruitment, training, development, support and management of volunteers in the NHS or an equivalent organisation.
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience of leading the due diligence and screening of volunteer applications.
  • Demonstrable ability and experience of working independently, with minimal supervision, in a complex, fast moving, deadline driven organisation.
  • Demonstrable expertise and experience of delivering complex projects and services with accelerated deadlines, in a complex, fast moving, deadline driven organisation.
  • Experience of developing and implementing Volunteering strategies in the NHS or an equivalent organisation.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of Voluntary policies and best practice.
  • Experience in using Social Media to communicate updates and success stories.
  • Experience in working with internal communication teams and local journalists.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrable ability and experience of communicating effectively with a wide variety of people, collaboratively, across professional boundaries.
  • Demonstrable ability and experience of organising and monitoring your own work, whilst working within a wider team and supporting the overall strategic direction and objectives.
  • Demonstrates respect for diversity and equality.
  • IT skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, email, internet, social media).
