Waking Nights Support Worker

November Start

Timeplan is currently working with an outstanding Special Needs school in Wandsworth. They are recruiting an experienced Waking Nights support worker. This is a long-term requirement, working hours will be 10.30pm - 8.30am, 5 days per week.

The school caters for children aged 10-19 years, with EHCPs for hearing impairments, SLCN and complex needs. As well as offering students an engaging curriculum, they also work hard to develop communication and social skills. The school has a wealth of resources for both staff and students to succeed.

As a Waking Nights Support worker responsibilities will include supporting the young people in the night if needed. In particular you will support a student who has both visual and hearing impairments. The student does not know BSL and uses hand gestures to communicate, therefore they require a candidate who has strong communication skills. You will be required to complete personal care and feeding. The student presents challenging/distressed behaviour, therefore they require someone who is calm and patient, with skills of dealing with behavioural difficult.

This role would suit someone who has care or support work experience with young adults.

Person Specification (Essential):
  • Evidence of successfully working with children and young people
  • High degree of resilience
  • Committed to working nights 5 days per week

In return for your hard work and commitment to the role we offer:
  • A competitive hourly rate based on experience and training
  • Access to our CPD and in-house training
  • A great opportunity and full support

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. You will be required to apply for an Enhanced DBS if your current DBS is not on the update service.

Timeplan is a committed Equal Opportunities Employer and therefore will not discriminate on the grounds of age, gender, race, ethnicity, disability, or sexual orientation.
