Nacro deliver the Bail Accommodation and Support Service (BASS) on behalf of the Ministry of Justice. BASS is a national service across England and Wales which allows Courts to make greater use of bail by providing accommodation in the community with support for adult defendants who could not otherwise be bailed. BASS also provides support for service users released from custody in the last three months of their sentence on Home Detention Curfew (HDC), Intensive Community Order Residence Requirement and Additional License Conditions.

Who we are looking for?

We are searching for a Support Worker, ideally with experience of working in the Criminal Justice system. Your role will be to provide support to our service users to take control of their lives, to empower all to live independently in the community and comply with the requirements of their Prison Licence and Court Bail requirements and conditions. The role will also involve undertaking an induction of each and every service user, production of a personal support plans and conducting risk assessments. There will be liaison with Police, Courts, Prisons, National Probation Service and Community Rehabilitation Centres.

The role would provide housing related support to vulnerable individuals together with providing housing and property management with the aim of achieving a successful move-on and other measurable outcomes including supporting service users to achieve independence.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Supporting service users to comply with the requirements of their HDC/Bail conditions.
  • Producing a realistic and achievable support plan to include using housing and accommodation services in the area to facilitate move on.
  • Ensure that all support plans and risk assessments are person-centred and inclusive of the high quality support being offered.
  • Ensure timely responsiveness to void turnaround is kept to a minimum and no more than a maximum of 7 calendar days where repairs, cleaning and replacement furniture and equipment are required.
  • Ensure that properties are kept to a high standard in line with Nacro’s lettable property standards and the Decent Homes Standard.
  • Undertake basic cleaning tasks as required.
  • The candidate would need to be fully confident in using ICT/Mobile working equipment

A DBS check will be required for this role.

A full driving licence and access to own vehicle is required.
