Shortlisting and initial interviews are currently taking place for an English Teacher to join the team at this KS3 PRU in Camden.

The ethos at this Camden based school, revolves around providing a fresh start and encouraging students to see and achieve their own potential. All pupils attending will have experienced challenges in mainstream schools prior to attending. Upon coming to this specialist provision, students are offered more flexible and creative pathways for education and training. A Nurture Approach is central to all teaching and intervention at this school and the English Teacher will need to be confident using this approach.

Support at the school ranges from short term programmes supporting reintegration to mainstream, to long-term provision and vocational pathways across two sites in Camden. The English Teacher will teach pupils attending the school with complex social, emotional and mental health needs. Challenging behaviour is a common presentation of these needs. Many students are also referred with EHCPs for Learning and Cognition and/or Social Communication and Interaction needs. The curriculum covers 3 key areas: core subjects, vocational subjects and personal development.

The English teacher will:
  • Work with pupils in Years 7-11
  • Follow the National Curriculum
  • Deliver Functional skills from Entry 1 to Level 2.
  • Have QTS or NQT status and experience teaching English at Primary and/or Secondary level
  • Experience working with SEMH needs is highly desirable in this post
  • Relevant education and training to work with SEMH needs
