Eden Brown education are looking for a fantastic qualified English teacher to work within a special school for students from year 7 to 11. The Special School follow the NC curriculum and they accredit in functional skills from entry 1 to level 2

This School is an integrated Special School and Pupil Referral Unit catering for up to 100 secondary aged students with Social Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties and operates from two sites. All students have significant SEMH needs but many, particularly on the special school roll, also have a range of complex learning needs and require tailored learning and support opportunities. The role will be starting in January 2021 for the full spring term, this may continue for the right candidate. You will be expected to teach English to all years from 7 to 11, functional skills from entry 1 to level 2 and will be working within their special school

The successful application will need to have experience teaching English to Yrs 7 to 11 and have experience of working with a range of SEMH and learning needs.
  • Specialise in working with pupils with a range of challenges and difficulties
  • Provide specialist support for pupils with social, emotional and mental health difficulties
  • Provide a safe learning environment
  • Provide personalised programmes of learning, which include a range of qualifications
  • Engage and develop pupils through their personal strengths and interests
  • Maintain effective links with families and the community
  • Work effectively with a range of professionals to support pupils
  • Have high expectations and aspirations, which support pupils to succeed

To be a successful SEMH English Teacher you will need;
  • NQT status and experience of primary and/or secondary teaching the English Curriculum
  • Working with a range of SEMH and learning needs.
  • Hold a recognised Teacher qualification e.g. QTS or NQT
  • Have experience working with challenging Behaviour
  • Be able to effectively develop the confidence, language, behaviour and social skills of Children between the ages of 11-16
