Who will I be working for?

The Theatre Royal Plymouth is the largest and best-attended regional producing theatre in the UK.

As well as presenting an amazing range of shows, we are a registered charity, deeply committed to our community and to providing creative opportunities for people with different abilities and from all backgrounds.

With Flying Colours is the Plymouth Cultural Education Partnership’s (PCEP) citywide, school-based project, funded by the DCMS for the Youth Performance Partnership. This pioneering and ambitious co-created programme consists of playwriting and playmaking and will culminate in school and community-based festivals in three areas in the city.

We are now on the lookout for a Creative Producer to lead this project for a contract until September 2022.

This is a rare and exceptional opportunity to play a vital role in engaging children and young people in theatre and the arts as part of a new programme of work in Plymouth.

You’ll be a key member of the programme team and will have the chance to get involved in all aspects of programme delivery from engaging with the children and managing school relationships to hosting the festival to showcase project work.

The Role

As a Creative Producer, you will be tasked with driving forward the With Flying Colours programme strategy and providing artistic leadership to the playwriting and playmaking elements.

Working alongside community groups, supporting artists, writers, directors and other creatives, you will manage school relationships and play a leading role in the delivery of this innovative programme.

Specifically, this exciting contract will involve:

- Providing artistic leadership to the programme, promoting and supporting quality artistic practice
- Developing great partnerships with schools, agencies and stakeholders
- Line managing the Project Manager and Associate
- Ensuring that With Flying Colours is embedded and communicated throughout Plymouth
- Recruiting, mentoring and managing all freelancers, artists and companies involved in the programme

About You

To be considered as a Creative Producer, you will need:

- Experience of theatre and the arts
- A working knowledge of schools and a sensitivity to the pressure they’re under
- A commitment to communities
- Knowledge of socially engaged practice
- Great manager of people and project strands
- Adept at juggling priorities
- The ability to develop partnerships and work effectively in a fast-paced, creative environment
