Senior Housing Investigations Officer contract opportunity with a local authority based in West London.

An established Morgan Hunt client is seeking a Senior Housing Investigations Officer to work in West London.

The responsibilities of the Senior Housing Investigations Officer will be:
  • To supervise the Housing Investigations Officers. This will include setting targets, training and 1 to 1 meetings.
  • To provide decision making and case management support to the Housing Investigation Officers.
  • To ensure the team is working within the timescales set within the business plan.
  • To case manage suspected fraudulent housing tenancy fraud and breaches of tenancy conditions. Prepare cases for prosecution.
  • Lead the Housing Investigation team, in co-operation with the Housing management team, in ensuring effective use of statutory powers and policies to reduce levels of housing fraud.
  • To visit home addresses and other additional places that are deemed pertinent to an investigation.
  • To ensure that the team follows the correct procedures for investigating suspected Housing Fraud and are compliant with relevant statutory data and legislative controls and data sharing protocols, including the Data Protection Act 1998, Criminal Procedure and Investigations Act 1996, and Human Rights Act 1998, Civil Procedure Rules and the National File Standards.
  • To work in co-operation with the relevant fraud teams when undertaking a joint investigation, for example the Police, Home Office, Social Agencies etc.
  • To work with Resident Services and Housing teams to investigate applications for Right to Buy, Succession and Assignment as requested.
  • To interview tenant and others where breaches of tenancy/fraud are suspected.

The successful candidate for the role of Senior Housing Investigations Officer will have:
  • Experience within both Housing Management and Housing Investigative work
  • Experience of management/supervision of staff within Social Housing
  • Experience and knowledge of relevant Housing legislation
  • Experience of giving evidence in both court and to other bodies
