Provide Education are working with a special school in South Yorkshire who are seeking a SEND Support Worker on a long term, full-time basis from January 2021.

Catering for 150 pupils aged 5-16 years old, the school provides a differentiated curriculum for young people with Autism Spectrum Conditions and Communication and Interaction difficulties. The school is located centrally in South Yorkshire and is easily commutable by both car and public transport from local areas including Rotherham, Barnsley, and Doncaster.

The school curriculum has been designed to meet the needs of pupils with Autism and Communication difficulties, and focuses heavily on Communication & Interaction, Skills for Life, and building Confidence and Creativity, Resilience in all young people.

We are seeking a Support Worker to work across school who has experience of supporting individuals with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and who can confidently support the delivery a curriculum designed to meet specific needs.

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Providing a safe, caring and stimulating learning environment where pupils can develop a sense of self-worth and capacity for enjoyment
  • Developing pupils’ knowledge through relevant learning experiences
  • Encouraging children to be active participants in, and contributors to society
  • Preparing children for life beyond school by providing opportunities within the local community which enhance skills and attitudes
  • Supporting pupils to access learning activities, differentiating resources
  • Promoting positive peer interaction and making meaningful communication with pupils

We welcome applications from those with both personal and professional experience of providing care and/or support for young people with additional needs. Applications will also be considered from individuals with training or qualifications in Health and Social Care, Education Studies, Psychology and Social Work.
