Are you an experienced Safeguarding Support Officer looking for your next challenge?

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
  • To support the Safeguarding Manager and be the secondary point of contact for Safeguarding and referrals, alerts and queries.
  • To support with the managing, co-ordinatation and review referrals, alerts and progress appropriately to relevant adult and children’s triage teams.
  • Represent the Service at any Serious Case Reviews, Serious Case Audits or Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) and provide any data or information associated with the Service as required.
  • Assist with being a point of contact for all Adult and Children’s Safeguarding Boards.
  • Represent the Service at Safeguarding meetings and forums
  • Support team members in maintaining and updating confidential Safeguarding reports, commensurate with information sharing protocols, Service Safeguarding Policies and external partner expectations, whilst maintaining communications with relevant people, in accordance with General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) and Safeguarding best practice as determined by Service policy and procedures.
  • Pro-actively support collaboration with other Thames Valley Authorities, external bodies and other partner agencies i.e Thames Valley Police to benchmark existing Service provision and implement a planned and appropriate recognised good practice approach and scope potential external funding provision(s) for Safeguarding practices.
  • Developing any changes to the Services procedures from any external stakeholder feedback and to assist with regular reviews with Duty Officers, Hub Group Manager, Prevention Managers and other staff within appropriate departments to update, educate or advise of changes in practice.
  • Ensure all operational risk information highlighted through alerts is passed to appropriate person e.g. Prevention Managers.
  • Develop, support and maintain own practitioner core skills and competencies through regular and timely team and individual development interventions; ensuring latest skill sets and best practice are incorporated into the delivery of effective, safe and efficient initiatives.
  • Assess alerts raised and pass those that do not meet Safeguarding thresholds to appropriate partners and internal Stakeholders, such as Prevention Managers.

Experience:
  • 1-2 years of Safeguarding experience
  • Experience working with Local Authorities and external agencies
  • Adult Support Worker experience
  • Experience developing and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders involved in Safeguarding.
  • Experience dealing with Serious Case Reviews etc
