The team is responsible for producing and delivering an IFRS 17 Communication Plan to UK Life Finance Business Partners and Senior Leadership Teams (SLTs). The purpose of this plan is to inform on the changes to IFRS reporting, and to discuss how this could impact the running of each product cell. The team will work closely with the IFRS17 Financial Impacts team, who are currently responsible for producing financial analysis, forecasts and what-if sensitivities.

The team will also work closely with our Group function on how the UK part of the Investor story will change as a result of the new standard. This includes discussing and recommending new key performance metrics and will be illustrated by re-producing full year 2020 results under IFRS17.

Key aspects of the role:
  • Designing MI across different products to deliver the requirements of the business
  • Engaging directly with stakeholders at all levels across the business to both; inform of anticipated business impacts as a result of IFRS17 and to investigate where IFRS17 changes how we run the business
  • Support reviews of IFRS17 financials and reconciliations to existing reporting metrics (e.g. SII)
  • Mentor junior team members

Skills and experience we’re looking for:
  • Qualified actuary (or equivalent by experience) with significant financial reporting experience, ideally across both IFRS and SII
  • An awareness of the new IFRS17 standard would be advantageous but can be learned in role
  • Ability to work innovatively and independently to develop solutions to fresh analytical problems
  • Very strong interpersonal skills and a willingness to work with colleagues from across the Group
  • Strong technical actuarial skills to review and understand impacts
  • Ability to communicate with stakeholders in order to understand their requirements and to explain IFRS17 impacts
  • Flexibility and a ‘hands on’ approach in order to look at a range of issues across a wide number of stakeholders, products and markets

What will you get for this role?
  • A competitive salary depending on skills, experience and qualifications
  • Generous defined contribution pension scheme
  • Annual performance related bonus and pay review
  • Holiday allowance of 29 days plus bank holidays and the option to buy/sell up to 5 additional days
  • Up to 40% discount for some Aviva products through “My Aviva Extras” plus discounts for Friends and Family (some exclusions apply)
  • Excellent range of flexible benefits to include a matching share save scheme

Working at Aviva

At Aviva, we’re people with a purpose. To be with you today, for a better tomorrow.

We bring this to life by ensuring managing risk is at the heart of the way we all work. We love people who do the right thing for our customers, and our colleagues. We want people who speak up, who take responsibility, and who make good decisions.

The way we do this is important too. We always ‘Care More’. It’s our thing! We’re all about our people â€" that’s you â€" so we can be pretty flexible. If you want to work from home some of the time or change your hours so you can pick up your kids or care for someone in your family, we’re very open to that. In fact, we don’t advertise roles as either part or full time, because we know each person has different needs, just as each business area has different needs. So, it’s up to you to discuss working hours during your interview.

We care deeply about being inclusive and that means we encourage applications from people with diverse backgrounds and experiences. We want our employees to bring their whole self to work and that starts with you!
