The University’s Board of Governors has overall responsibility for the strategy, direction and performance of the institution. We are looking to appoint two new board members (governors) who will bring a fresh, supportive and challenging interest and insight into the issues and opportunities facing the University.

Governors bring thoughtful and mature contribution to our institutional planning, are principled and innovative. A willingness to be challenging but constructive, and a strong strategic focus are essential attributes for the role.

We are seeking a broad range of relevant skills and backgrounds, and would particularly welcome applications from candidates who possess either of the following:
  • A deep knowledge and understanding of academia, likely to have been gained from recent experience as an academic at senior management level.
  • Skills, knowledge and lived experience that would directly enhance the equality, diversity and inclusion work of the board and the University.

The role of Governor is likely to require a minimum time commitment of around twelve days a year.

All roles are unremunerated, although reasonable expenses will be covered. For more information about the role, please see the attached candidate pack.
