Northern Consortium is a unique educational organisation, founded in 1987 by a group of Northern UK universities to support the advancement of education. It is a registered charity operated as a company limited by guarantee, with a larger subsidiary company which operates independently. The board of directors of the company are also trustees of the charity. To help us we need experienced members of the public to join our Board. We are particularly keen to recruit members from local communities from across the North of England who have one or more of the following skills:
  • financial management, income generation and enterprise experience
  • experience of trading subsidiaries and/or social enterprise
  • experience of charities and not for profits
  • collaborative partnerships, particularly within charities

There are four vacancies and board meetings are held twice a year, during office hours either virtually or in Manchester. The Board is responsible for setting the strategy and policies of Northern Consortium and guides and supports the Executive Director.
