Nacro are looking for Volunteers in the Essex & London areas.

We don’t just talk about achieving positive social change at Nacro. We do it every day - challenging unfairness, dismantling barriers to progress and giving some of the most vulnerable people in society the best chance at a second chance.

So when people become homeless, face drug addiction or go into prison, we are on hand to help them get a good education, a job and a safe place to live.

That puts our specialist Housing teams right at the heart of our success, and we are now looking for another key professional to help take our performance to the next level.

What are we looking for?

A pool of volunteers to support our service users in the community. We recognise that engagement from service users can often be more successful when the professional involved is delivering support in a voluntary capacity, no experience necessary but please ensure you fulfil the criteria below;
  • We would like to see applications from people who genuinely want to support individuals to make positive changes in their life, you do not necessarily need to have relevant experience
  • We want applicants who are non-judgemental, passionate, and resourceful
  • We would like a commitment of a minimum of 4 hours per week for a minimum of 6 months
  • We will also train applicants in Housing Management, compliance and benefits system.

Key responsibilities may include.
  • Supporting service user to attend appointments in the community.
  • Delivering information, advice and guidance around practical issues; motivating and encouraging service users to adopt a positive attitude; supporting service users build resilience and confidence to achieve resettlement goals.
  • Providing holistic mentoring support to service users
  • Completing and following action plans.
  • Accurate record keeping

This role is subject to a DBS and (where applicable). All travel and subsistence costs will be reimbursed.
