About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a small but extremely busy team contributing to the development of the Folk Hall as a community hub for New Earswick where people come to socialise, find things out and generally enrich their lives.

You will provide a full and supportive administration service that will contribute to the smooth running of the Folk Hall including, but not limited to, managing the bookings for formal meetings and community events, reception work, the Post Office Counter, and assisting the Folk Hall Manager and Deputy Manager with the day to day running of the community centre and its programme of activities.

The Post Office is well-used within the community and during opening times is very busy, dealing with transactions and requests associated with this service.

The reception facility is central to the Folk Hall and the post holder will be responsible for being the first point of contact for customers, as well as organising and facilitating events, running reception and other general administration duties.

About you

A good understanding of office based administrative processes and practices is essential in this role and if you can demonstrate excellent inter-personal skills along with a foundation of good customer service then this is the role for you.

Cash handling experience and dealing with customers in a retail setting are essential as will a resilience and ability to manage and prioritise a range of different tasks at any one time. Accuracy in cash handling and being numerate are also seen as an advantage.

We are particularly interested in you if you have a flexible approach and a can-do attitude, willing to roll their sleeves up and assist where the need is greatest.
