English / Maths / Science Tutor - National Tutoring Programme - Pearson
Pearson has recently been approved as a Partner for the National Tutoring Programme and we are currently recruiting qualified teachers to deliver tutoring sessions in GCSE and KS2 Maths and English as well as GCSE Science.
What is the National Tutoring Programme?
On 19 June 2020, the prime minister announced a £1bn fund to help England's children catch up on what they have missed while schools have been closed. £350m of this £1bn fund will be used to subsidise catch-up tutoring and coaching from organisations approved by the newly formed National Tutoring Programme (NTP).
The NTP is targeted to reach the most disadvantaged and vulnerable young people, to help reduce the gap in academic progress between them and their more affluent peers. The government has said that ‘the evidence shows that tutoring is an effective way to accelerate learning, and we therefore believe a targeted tutoring offer is the best way to narrow the gaps that risk opening up due to attendance at school being restricted.’ The remaining £650m will be given to schools to spend on other catch-up support.
Tutors will be responsible for planning and delivering high quality tutoring sessions to small groups of students (or occasionally 1:1), either online or in person. Tutors will assess students’ progress and feedback regularly on progress and attainment to their teachers.
Please note that Tutors will need to be UK based.
Full details of the requirements of the position can be found in the attached job description.
We will be allocating blocks of 15 one-hour sessions, with a payment of £400 for each tutoring block delivered. You will also be entitled to holiday pay at 12.07%. If holiday is not taken, then you’ll receive payment in lieu of the holiday at the end of the contracted period.
As well as this, you will also earn £150 for completing our application process and training.
