Pertemps are delighted to be working with our public sector client in Edinburgh to recruit for a Head of Centre on a fixed-term contract.

Role - Head of Centre (Early Years Education)
Location - Edinburgh
Duration - 9 months fixed-term contract
Hours of work - 36 hours Monday - Friday
Pay - £20.01 per hour
Immediate Start

The successful candidate will be ensuring the effective delivery management, co-ordination and development of integrated, flexible services for children.

You will be:
  • Ensuring that the service meets the needs of children and families
  • Providing leadership and strategic direction
  • Demonstrating a strong professional and personal value base in the development, good management and delivery of a quality service to children and families
  • Responsible for the management of all staff and provision of professional advice and guidance
  • Implementing Care Standards in accordance with the Care Inspectorate and Education Scotland whilst ensuring delivery is consistent with SSSC Code of Practice
  • Ensuring the effective planning and delivery of the Birth to Threes Framework and Curriculum for Excellence
  • Developing and maintaining strong, collaborative and positive partnership working arrangements with key professionals and agencies
  • Maximising the effective use of resources
  • Promoting the welfare and wellbeing of children
  • Engaging with local community groups and services, building and maintaining good relationships
  • Ensuring the use of appropriate assessment approaches to track children's progress, inform future learning, development and individual care plans for all children
  • Ensuring clear, coherent and inclusive policy implementation and development arrangements in the context of international, national and location legislation and policy frameworks
  • Responsible for the recruitment and retention of all staff and the management of all staff on a daily basis
  • Undertaking other duties as required

The successful candidate must:
  • Have an Early Years Advanced Qualifications (such as a BA in Early Years Development)
  • Hold a practice qualification
  • Meet SSSC requirements for registration as a manager
  • Have substantial experience in a managerial role in an early years setting
  • Have excellent communication skills
  • Have knowledge of different frameworks for learning and development
