Behaviour Mentor Teaching Assistant Job / Primary School | NEET / Challenging Behaviour Support - KS2 | Feb 21

A number of Primary Schools in Hammersmith and Ealing are looking to appoint Behaviour Mentor Teaching Assistants to support pupils across Reception as well as Key Stages 1 and 2 with severe Emotional, Social and Behavioural Difficulties, often 'at risk' of exclusion to join in February 2021.

You will be working within the schools' internal exclusion units and in collaboration with SENCOs, you will provide both academic and pastoral support to children who have demonstrated challenging behaviour.

About the Role:

As a Behaviour Mentor you will provide support and guidance to young pupils who have experienced learning difficulties due to emotional, Environmental or behaviour problems. You will help the pupils to overcome the social, emotional, and behavioural problems that are affecting their learning, getting them back on track to learn efficiently.

The successful candidates will have previous experience supporting pupils with Challenging Behaviour, ideally within a Primary School and will be able to demonstrate the following skills:
  • Ideally Team Teach trained
  • A part of your role will be to support children on a one-to-one basis to discuss SEAL (Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning) targets with an aim to reintegrate them back in to the classroom
  • Be responsible for the development of the pupil and may have other pupils who are struggling academically or with behaviour
  • Previous experience working as a behaviour mentor, be resilient and willing to go the extra mile and be energetic and committed to driving forward for success
  • Strong academic knowledge across key subject areas
  • You will be required to plan and execute small group / tailored lessons with the support of the class teacher
  • You must demonstrate the ability to organise and overcome challenging situations and deliver extracurricular classes
  • You will be resilient and work well in challenging situation with a calm and professional approach, under the support and guidance of a highly skilled SENCO
  • Be a patient and understanding supporter to vulnerable students
  • Be able to communicate effectively with pupils, staff and parents
  • Experience of working in PRUs/ with NEET students is not necessary but would be an advantage
  • Conform to school policies and procedures - safeguarding, welfare, health and safety, data protection and pastoral care


More Information:

  • £350 - £390 per week
  • Term-time only 8:30am - 4pm
