We’re fighting the biggest pandemic of our lifetime. People across the UK who have recovered from COVID-19 have been signing up to donate their plasma which may contain vital anti-bodies created by their immune system. This plasma can be transfused to patients whose immune systems are struggling to develop their own anti-bodies. Convalescent Plasma is essential to aid the recovery of hospitalised patients and instrumental to the research and development of vaccinations.

Can you rise to the challenge of recruiting volunteers to donate their plasma as we continue the fight against COVID-19?

We are looking for people with excellent communication skills who have the passion to make a real difference.

Pay: £13.78 per hour

Contract: Full time, to end of April 2021. Core hours of Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm with some evening and weekend work as required.

Location: Romford

How do we work together to combat COVID-19?

The primary role of the Donor Recruiter is to work closely with NHS organisations and the wider Community to influence and increase the donations of convalescent plasma from people who have recovered from COVID-19 (in particular those who were hospitalised, as they have the highest anti-body levels).

As a Donor Recruiter you will be an ambassador for NHSBT proactively engaging with both individuals and groups. This role requires a high-energy approach to building relationships and will suit someone with previous networking experience as you will be talking to a wide variety of people including healthcare professionals, religious leaders, local club organisers and businesspeople, asking them to work with you to increase awareness in their communities.

Working closely with the regional Engagement Manager, the Donor Recruiter will be the ever-present "feet on the ground", building and maintaining effective partnerships within a dedicated geographical area. You will be a confident communicator who is equally comfortable with face-to-face interactions, picking up the phone or using available media and marketing collateral to share information. Your role will create touch points from the local hospitals to the wider community. You will use your can-do attitude to make sure you reach as many people as possible.

Alongside the opportunity to take up a new challenge and make a positive impact during the pandemic this role offers autonomy and variety. You will organise your days around the availability of the individuals you are reaching out to. You could be spending your day manning a pop up NHSBT stand at the local Hospital or calling key contacts, followed by a day in your local Donor Centre at the heart of operations. Whilst benefiting from the support of a central campaign and the further NHSBT team you will be able to plan your own diary to maximise on opportunities to talk about the work you are doing.
