Five Education are working with secondary schools in and around South Gloucestershire who are looking for Teaching Assistants to work with them after the February Half Term. These roles will involve supporting students with SEND, including SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health needs) and young people who need other additional support, such as those in care.

We are looking for confident candidates who can think on their feet and are happy to work with students with a range of needs. You will be supporting them in class and around the school. Sometimes you may be working in a learning support base or outside of the classroom.

Ideally, you will be confident in your behaviour management skills and be able to support children with developing strategies to manage their responses and develop techniques to remain in their classes and access the full range of the curriculum.

There may be opportunities to work as a cover supervisor and lead pre-planned lessons to cover absences.

Essential Criteria:
  • A flexible and resourceful approach
  • A calm personality
  • A proactive approach to supporting the children and assisting the teacher
  • Able to cope with challenging behaviour
  • At least 6 months of experience working with children or young people in a school or other environment such as sports coaching.
  • Experience working with children who have SEND would be ideal but is not essential
  • Have a right to work in the UK (A Valid Visa)
  • Two recent child based references and relevant DBS/ Police checks
  • Able to work 8.30-3.30 3-5 days per week term time only
