Successful students will be able to enter the workforce as an Early Years Educator working with children 0-5.
CACHE (The Council for Awards in Care, Health and Education) qualifications specialise in the care and education sector and are the leading industry specialists. This course has been developed by experts, which ensures everything that employers need is covered.
Upon completion of the course, students will also earn 32 UCAS points, which can be used towards further education in childcare studies.
Duration study load
You will have 18 months to complete the course. This allows you to work at your own pace. You will also need to complete 350 placement hours, across 3 age ranges (0 to 1 year 11 months; 2 to 2 years 11 months; 3 to 5 years).
You will need to be at least 16 years of age to enrol onto this course. You will need to have a placement in an early years setting in mainland England with support from a workplace mentor. Students also must have basic IT skills and be fluent in English Language.
Please note, in order to secure employment which counts in the Level 3 staff: child ratios in childcare settings, you must also have a level 2 qualification in both English and Maths (i.e. functional skills or GCSE level).

All units are internally assessed. This course requires an assessment of your practical skills within your working environment. Methods of assessment could include:
- Direct observation of practice
- Witness evidence when directed by the sector skills assessment strategy
- Professional discussion
- Reflection on own practise in real work situations
- Written assignments
Students will be visited by an assessor 3 times during the duration of the course as part of the overall assessment.
You will study this course by distance learning, which will enable you to learn when and where you want. You can study from home or at work; it is completely up to you. Do I need to be working in a nursery to enrol onto this course?
Yes, you will need to be working, volunteering or on practical placement as you need to show competence in both knowledge and skills. The recommended number of placement hours for this course is 350 hours. It is important that your work placement is across the age range from 0-5 years. It is essential you secure a placement that can provide you with a suitably qualified level 3 mentor. An assessor will also need to sign off any additional evidence that you provide for an assessment relating to your placement.
