Cover Teachers required for Wirral based schools
Hays Education are currently looking for a large group of bank staff to work in our local partnership schools across Wirral Cover Teachers. Cover supervisors are suitably-trained school staff who supervise pupils carrying out pre-prepared exercises when teaching staff are on short-term absence. The cover supervisor's main job is to manage a classroom, ensuring that students remain on task with the work they have been set.
The main duties of a Cover Supervisor include:
This isn't "one size fit all" role and we are open to speaking to people from all backgrounds and experience. We are looking for people with a proven and referencable background in the below:
- Strong behaviour management skills - Excellent Communication Skills
- Experience of Leadership
- Minimum A-Level or Equivalent Qualifications
- Proactive in your approach
- Ability to project yourself
You may come from an ex forces, police or training background and have a keen interest in working with young people. You may even be thinking of undertaking a PGCE in the next few years or have a background in coaching or a graduate with experience working with young people. This will be judged on an individual basis with the above criteria being imperative.

- Supervising and delivering work that has been previously set
- Managing the behavior of pupils while they are undertaking this work
- Responding to any questions from pupils
- Dealing with any immediate problems or emergencies according to the school's policies and procedures
- Collecting any completed work after the lesson and returning it to the appropriate teacher
- Reporting back as appropriate using the school's agreed referral procedures on the behaviour of pupils during the class, and any issues arising
