Elysium Healthcare brings together a unique approach to the delivery of care where the patient is embedded in the heart of all aspects of hospital life.

Our inclusive way of working has the patient as a true partner in their care. We recognise that each and every member of staff has an important role to play in the success of Elysium. It is with their dedication, passion and hard work that we can deliver excellent care programs that truly benefit the patients.

Elysium Healthcare has a network of 22 sites strategically placed across England and Wales and we have a Senior RMN vacancy available at Sturt House located in Walton on the Hill. At Sturt House we offer a 21-bedded step down service for male patients aged 18 years and above with enduring mental health disorders.

Our Senior RMN role involves:

As a Senior RMN you will play a leading role within our nursing team. You will be carrying a caseload of your own whilst helping support the rest of the nursing team. As a Senior RMN you will bring an experienced and rounded approach to nursing in a least restrictive environment. Our patients are encouraged to take an active part in their recovery journey and you will be supporting and advocating for them. You will have a working awareness of the CQC and be confident in the domains that they inspect us.

You will be part of a vibrant MDT that meets regularly. You will be a confident communicator and strong report writer. Report writing is an essential part of the care pathway that our patients are on. As detained patients they need strong representation from a compassionate nurse who can support them whilst maintaining a realistic time scale to their demands and requests.

You will be attending CPAs, MDTs, MHT and MHAM hearings. As the primary nurse to assigned patients you will have a strong rapport and regular meetings so that the patient feels supported by you when they are in a challenging and anxiety provoking situation. You should be having regular meetings with your patient to review their care plans and also to discuss their plans and goals. It is important that you keep sight of your patients' goals and hopes whilst being realistic on timescales and progress.

Our nursing team are active in the assessments for admission and so you may be asked to attend another unit with view to giving an informed professional opinion about the suitability of a patient for our community. These need to be completed in a timely manner and with a professional approach, portraying a positive image of our service to other professionals.

We are a placement for nursing students and so you will need to be prepared to mentor and support the next generation of nurses. Our mental health support workers will be looking to you for guidance and support in the smooth running of the ward. There will be times when you are helping to cover the work of your colleagues, so being able to write a report in a timely manner and plan ahead is crucial. We are looking for proactive dynamic staff who can build a rapport with both patients and the existing staff team.

You will be checking care notes of the mental health support workers and supporting them in developing their skills. You will be offering supervision to others and ensuring that you get regular supervision yourself. You will need to be a model to the other members of the nursing team in your approach and manner. You will be supporting the management team by ensuring the ward is running to the expectations of the SMT and with the patients' needs at the centre of all you do.
