Job Description

Position: Assistant Management Accountant
Reporting to: Senior Accountant
Location: Hartlebury, Worcestershire, DY10 4JB
Hours of work: 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.

Overview

Assisting in the preparation of monthly management reports, bi-annual budgeting data and weekly sales forecasting information as well as various other reporting requirements and helping administrator Sage 200 accounting software.

We are seeking a team player with strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Previous experience of working in a fast moving and demanding manufacturing organisation would be desirable but not essential. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are crucial.

You should be able to demonstrate experience of working in a busy accounts department and be able to work well under pressure.
As part of our team, you will be expected to communicate well with colleagues at all levels throughout the business. An honest, hardworking approach and the willingness to learn is essential.

The ideal candidate will also possess an excellent understanding and working knowledge of Excel and take responsibility for planning, accuracy and performance of their own work. Advanced Excel is required and knowledge of Sage would be an advantage.
This is an extremely varied and challenging role that offers a lot of all-round business exposure to the successful candidate.

Duties / Responsibilities

Assisting with bi-annual budgeting process and weekly and monthly forecasting reviews on performance.
Assist in the preparation of Management Accounts for the Company, including supporting analysis for the Commentary.
Analysing variances and identifying potential issues, considering and communicating the implications with appropriate colleagues and managers.
Preparation of monthly KPI reports and responsibility for the accurate preparation, maintenance & timely distribution of relevant operational reports.
Ensuring accurate & timely processing of all raw material and packaging costs within agreed timetables.
Monthly stock review and preparation and investigation of stock take variances.
Assist with build-up and maintenance of Product costs and the calculation of machine hourly cost rates.
Monitoring of actual costs against standard and reporting and investigation of variances.
Capital expenditure reporting.
Preparation of monthly sales commission payments to agents.
Preparation of P11d and Annual PSA declarations.
Completion of Intrastat and VAT returns.
Complete ONS returns as and when required.
Expenses journal postings.
Assist with year-end audit and related audit packs.
Respond to queries and requests for analyses and information from internal and external stakeholders, while always keeping confidential data secure.
Work with the wider Finance team to implement strong financial processes and controls across the Company.
Proactively contribute to the development and maintenance of financial systems and processes.
Design and construct financial reports in Sage 200 for use both centrally and by individual users.
Assist with administration of Sage 200 and help to develop reporting from Sage 200.
Preparation of ad hoc management information.

Technical Knowledge

* Demonstrate experience and working knowledge of management accounts requirements;

* Part qualified

* Experience gained within industrial, engineering or manufacturing environments, preferably with multi-currency experience would be a distinct advantage

* Have strong system skills including the ability to manipulate large amounts of data with an IT / Systems Affinity. Experience of Sage 200 or other ERP systems would also be beneficial.

* Solid IT knowledge with medium to large company computer packages, including Microsoft Word & Excel proficiency (VLOOKUPs/pivots etc.).
