Service Care Solutions are looking for an experienced Specialist Occupational Therapist in the West Essex area to work within an NHS Mental Health Service. The service provides help for those who are experiencing problems with Mental Health such as memory loss, confusion and anxiety related problems. The service also provides help to those who are physically or emotionally vulnerable, especially those in later life. The post is full-time (Monday to Friday 9-5) for a minimum of 3 months, although is in a position to be extended. The position is a Band 6 role and is offering a competitive rate. The suitable candidate must be a car driver.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

It is not an exhaustive list and you will therefore be required to undertake other responsibilities and duties that are considered to be commensurate with the band.
Core Clinical Support
*To carry out comprehensive and specialist assessments as part of the MDT integrated assessment of service users
*To plan and implement treatment
*To evaluate and review treatment plans
*To use appropriate outcome measures
*To develop, coordinate, regularly review and contribute to a MDT programme of therapeutic activities for service users that is evidence based and responsive to need
*To evaluate the assessment of service user's responses to activities in accordance with agreed models of practice e.g. MOHO.
*To provide specialist advice and support to service users, carers and other disciplines
*To provide specialist OT advice on equipment, telecare etc. to other disciplines
*To assess for and provide equipment
*To record all patient related activity information onto Remedy
*To lead in induction of staff and fieldwork education of students
*To plan and prioritise own and team service user workload as required
*To carry out any other additional duties in accordance with requirements of clinical area and band
Core Non Clinical Support
*To promote occupational Therapy within the service and wider community
*To assist in service development review
*To identify aspects of the service which need to be improved and implement appropriate changes in conjunction with the Clinical Manager and area Consultant OT where appropriate.
*To participate in the recruitment process of OT and other clinical staff as required.
*To provide leadership in the continuing development of a high quality service that is underpinned by evidence based practice, care pathways/packages and NICE and DoH guidance.
Person Specification:
*Must be a Registered Occupational Therapist who is currently registered with the HCPC.
*A minimum 6 months working as a mental health practitioner in a community, in-patient or residential care setting.
*Must be an effective and responsible lone worker, capable of organising own workload
