Job Purpose

To manage staff and all functions of a busy QA and R&D laboratory by providing the continuation of innovative services within the organisation from research and development to the successful launch and sale of new products.R&D, QA, H&S Systems, whilst also ensuring training records are kept up to date.

Principal Accountabilities

The person will report to the Managing Director. They will have responsibility for and provide day to day hands on management and leadership of work ensuring that all projects are delivered on time, within budget and maintain quality standards.
•To provide a full research, development and QA/systems support function to ensure laboratory staff are compliant to this
•Ensure the appropriate policies and procedures are implemented and followed and traceability and record retention is adhered (including QAM Manual).
•Responsible for the smooth and effective transition of products from development to market, including technical support at pre-launch and launch introductions (including approval of pack copy for customers)
•Ability to manage and lead a research and development team, retaining and developing talented individuals and enhancing the direction and growth of the research and development unit.
•To ensure that the testing and analytical programmes are managed to agreed standards and timescales required by the business and there is continuous improvements.
•Responsibility for the creation of training and educational materials which are essential for product introductions and continuous improvement of technical evaluation and product development and process control procedures.
•Work with Manufacturing, Production and Office to ensure all products are adhered to 100 % of specification.
•Audits / standards (Internal and external)
•Improve RFT achievements
•Liaise with external contacts (customers / regulator bodies / suppliers)

Knowledge of:
•R&D Technical Management within the Hair/Beauty Care Business
•Demonstrate a comprehensive technical knowledge of the business and a good practical understanding of how beauty/hair care products function.
•Knowledge of Project Management
•Microsoft word, Excel and Project (or equivalent packages)

Qualification:
•Graduate Calibre
•Science/Technical Degree or equivalent qualifications

Experience:

??A minimum of 3 years' experience within Hair/Beauty Care or a similar controlled industry

??A minimum of 3 years' experience within research and/or product development involving beauty care products

??Minimum of 3 years' experience in maintaining systems and knowledge of process control and QA functions.
