Job Purpose

To hold legal responsibility and provide leadership and management of registered children's home/s; overseeing and ensuring the delivery of high quality therapeutic care to young people as part of our client's integrated service. Managing and developing staff teams and individuals, as well as contributing to the overall objectives of the wider organisation.

•To apply a comprehensive understanding of our clients' policies and procedures as an employee and all aspects of working practices.
•To apply a comprehensive understanding of relevant legislation (Children's Home Regulations 2015, Quality Standards 2015 and Towards a Stable Life, Brighter Future 2002) to all aspects of service delivery.
•To develop the staff team's knowledge and understanding of safeguarding practices and processes; leading, coordinating and resolving safeguarding matters as required.
•To respond quickly and appropriately to referrals in line with organisational requirements including matching processes, aspiring to full occupancy levels at all times.
•To meet organisational Key Performance Indicators as required.
•To effectively communicate with staff teams about regulatory requirements, developing their understanding so as to support the homes delivery of high quality care.
•To lead and co-ordinate the development, implementation and delivery of the young person's Quality of Life Plan across the integrated services; communicating and setting goals, supporting practice development and ensuring progress is monitored effectively.
•To effectively communicate with others about a child's needs as identified in the Quality of Life plan to other professionals, leading the care process where relevant.
•To effectively manage resources to enable to staff teams to meet all the physical needs of the young person.
•To actively monitor all aspects service delivery for quality, standards and effectiveness using regulatory reporting mechanisms to do so (Regulation 33/45/32/44).
•To actively monitor all recording, monitoring and reporting systems are utilised correctly and to the highest standard.
•Provide regular feedback, support and direction to staff teams to ensure that the required quality and standard of service delivery is being met.
•To participate and contribute to the objectives of the wider organisation, via recruitment, development projects etc.

Thorough knowledge of child development issues and the pathology of abused young people.
Detailed understanding of Children's Act 1989, Care Standards Act 2000, Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015, Children's Homes (Wales) Regulations 2002 (amended 2007), Health and Safety Requirements, Equal Opportunities, Anti-Discriminatory Practice and other relevant legislation.
Understanding of a variety of different therapeutic models.
Understanding of oppression and ability to demonstrate and promote anti-discriminatory practice.
Willing to work unsocial hours, flexible and self-motivated.
Full driving licence.
A minimum of 5 years' experience in residential care or a directly related field, at least two of these must be at management level.
Demonstrable experience in controlling expenditure.
Experience of assessment, care planning, and review.

Professional social work qualification: DipSW CQSW or equivalent or Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (England)(QCF) or the equivalent predecessor qualification in England/Wales for the role
