Temporary Supported Living Services Manager

Local Care Force are currently recruiting for a Supported Living Services Manager in Nottingham on behalf of a prestigious Learning Disabilities support provider. My client provides support to adults with learning disabilities, autism, mental health issues and challenging behaviours both in their own homes and in supported living projects nationally. With an overall rating of "good" in their most recent CQC report, they are committed to the provision of high quality services with an emphasis on service users independence and ongoing development.

Reporting to the Area manager, the service manager role involves managing up to five projects in Nottingham, coordinating the delivery of support to vulnerable adults across a range of settings to enable individuals to lead independent and fulfilling lives.

Main Responsibilities of the role

To co-ordinate the creation, implementation and monitoring of costed support plans with the individual/s, their supporters and other appropriate people to live the life they choose , make decisions and take appropriate risks.

To ensure that all staff follow, monitor and deliver agreed outcomes from an individual's person centred plan/support plan, providing advice on particular approaches to problems.

To encourage and facilitate the individual's involvement in the planning, delivery and management of their support service ensuring changes are made in line with their feedback and their families.

To manage and co-ordinate the recruitment, selection and induction of staff, involving services users in the process as appropriate.

To manage service budgets, ensuring staff budgets are utilised in line with agreed hours allocated for each person, including writing and monitoring rota's to ensure staff cover is provided in accordance with the requirements of the support plan. Managing annual leave, TOIL and training cover in accordance with budgetary provisions.

To report on budget variances identifying any overspend/underspend and producing plans and actions to ensure services are provided within allocated budgets.

To act as a practice leader and ensure all staff across the services receive supervision, on the job observation/coaching and feedback and an annual appraisal.

To produce an annual training plan identifying staff training and development needs that ensure the appropriate use of E Learning, classroom training, on the job training and mentoring from manager.

To ensure that all staff are appropriately trained and qualified to carry out their individual roles.

Essential Requirements

Experience of managing services for individuals with Learning disabilities in a community or supported living setting.

A thorough understanding of the issues which face people with a learning disability and/or mental health difficulties including a working knowledge of the Health and Social Care Act 2008.

Good communication skills (both written and oral), including listening skills and the ability to communicate effectively with people with learning disabilities and/or mental health difficulties using a variety of different methods as required.

Proven leadership ability, proven skills in budget control, quality assurance, rota writing supervision, sickness absence management, performance management and team building.
