Children and Families Initial Assessment Team


Up to GBP30 an hour

An opportunity is available for a qualified social worker to participate in the provision of services so that service users receive help matched to their individual needs within the local community.

The post holder will be a member of the Children & Families Initial Assessment Team with a responsibility to provide services to children in need, and children in need of protection and their families. You will also provide support on the Duty Desk and Section 47 investigations on a rota basis.

You will be responsible for carrying out assessments in line with the National Assessment framework, working with children, families and partner agencies to ensure that relevant quality plans are devised to meet children's needs, the welfare of the child being paramount.

The role requires

* A CQSW, DipSW, CSS or equivalent. Knowledge of the agencies functions and an understanding of the relevant legislation procedures, policies and practice within child care social work.
* Good interpersonal skills, assessment and planning skills and the ability to self motivate are essential.
* It is essential you have the experience to be able to handle complex cases, involving children at risk and in depth child protection issues.
* An ability to use and/or develop IT skills and take part in further relevant training as required.
* Able to supervise and provide guidance to other members of staff.
