What will the role involve?

Our business managers lead and drive performance of their dedicated centres, to deliver all contracts within the area at agreed levels of income, margin and quality. They facilitate local growth and business development and develop a plan to secure new business, identifying opportunities for both sub-contractors and direct delivery.

Some of the main accountabilities will include:

Full budget responsibility for the centre P&L, forecasting and planning activities.
Drive performance by ensuring that all objectives, targets and KPI's are clearly set and reviewed on a regular basis, together with development and support where required.
Maintain and continually improve the quality measures throughout the centre(s) ensuring a minimum of grade 2 for observations and no more than a 5% error rate
Lead, manage and coach the centre (s) team to drive a high performance culture in line with learndirect's vision and values to achieve expected targets / KPI's month on month.
Day to day contract management to ensure acceptable levels of income and margin
Ensure income and profitability from contracts is secured and delivered as budgeted by monitoring and producing regular management information (MI) with the ability to identify both risks and opportunities by utilising key performance indicators (KPI's)
To establish and maintain low levels of attrition in the centre (s)
Build, Develop and maintain purposeful and constructive relationships with local external funders and stakeholders to maximise income and enhance learndirect's reputation
Identify any opportunities to benchmark best practice in your area
Share knowledge and best practice across the wider business to increase performance
Contribute to the development of localised business plans and tactical planning
Ensure that business plans are communicated, implemented, understood and delivered.
Identify and implement significant opportunities for innovation in service delivery, product enhancement and new service and product offerings.
Responsibility for all people management aspects of the operations including recruitment, retention, employment relations and all people processes.

What skills, experience, and qualifications are we looking for?

Demonstrable experience of managing profit and loss, forecasting and budget planning.
Significant people management experience (min 3 years), able to demonstrate performance management, development and managing employee relations experience
Demonstrable experience of successfully working within a target driven environment
Experience of welfare to work, education and learning, quality standards, funded contracting and funding bodies.
Track record of business development, negotiation, sales presentations and customer development.
Analytical minded with experience of generating MI reports to track and identify performance opportunities and threats.
Experience of contract start and end with knowledge and understanding of all aspects of restructuring and TUPE.
Demonstrable experience in performance management in line with contract requirements
Proven ability to manage multiple internal and external stakeholders effectively
Knowledge of funding bodies and associated contractual requirements is desirable
Commercially and financially astute with previous experience managing profit and loss accounts and cash flow forecasts
Ability to establish and maintain high levels of quality and compliance with experience of auditing requirements within skills delivery.
