37 hours per week - rotas cover 7 days per week (sleep-ins)

Who are we?

Solas provides a wide range of high quality accommodation based services for young people 16+, adults aged 18+, families across South Wales and substance misuse treatment services. We provide accommodation and Individual support packages to our customers and access can access a range of volunteering, education, employment and training opportunities. Our aim is to move people on to independence. We provide access to permanent settled accommodation and a programme of activities and training opportunities to support people to develop the skills they need to successfully move on with their lives

The Scheme

Woodstock House is a vibrant supported accommodation service for young people aged 16-24 years.

What will you do?

Provide a continuous and consistent approach to support for vulnerable young people, helping them make the transition into independent living and advising them on re-housing options.
Provide support with budgeting and money management, including welfare benefits.
Provide support in a practical way, with regards to education, training and employment and day to day living.
Liaise with Social Services, the Benefit Agency, Housing Department, Resettlement Worker, Health and Safety and other relevant agencies, on matters affecting prospective and current clients.

Who are we looking for? (for more detail see Role Profile):

-Experience of working face to face with vulnerable young people or other vulnerable groups
-Experience of key-working and outcomes monitoring
-Knowledge of the issues facing young homeless people
-Ability to work as part of a team
-Ability to work on own initiative and under pressure
-Some knowledge of financial procedures and budgeting controls and knowledge of the benefits system.
-To be able to support our people, you will need a Driving License

You will have experience of working with challenging young people. This role requires flexibility along with enthusiastic, self-motivated and creative individuals. You need the ability to work on your own initiative in a busy and dynamic role as well as a being a Positive Team Player. This role is for a passionate individual who believes they can make a difference to young individuals.

You will have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to produce individual support plans and other written reports and monitoring information as required. You will also possess the following skills: Time Management, Problem Solving, Relationship building, be organised and ideally have knowledge of benefits, mental health and drugs and alcohol.
