I am currently looking for a payroll manager for a public sector organisation based in Quarry House in Leeds City Centre. This is maternity cover.

Pay: GBP11.45 p/h for initial 12 week period GBP14.31 thereafter

Hours: Mon-Fri, 9am - 5.30pm

Overview of the post/area of work

The post holder will be part of the small Payroll team, which sits within the Finance Directorate based in Leeds. The function of the team is to provide Payroll services to the Department of Health in conjunction with our third party payroll provider.

Responsibilities of the post

This Payroll Manager will be primarily responsible for the managing the relationships with, and overseeing the accurate and timely transmission of payroll data, to the Departments third party payroll provider.

Key duties include:

Day to day staff management of the small Payroll team, ensuring that the monthly payroll schedule is adhered to across the whole team.

Service management reviews with our 3rd party payroll provider and other external stakeholders. Liaison with our 3rd party pensions administrator to ensure accurate and timely transfer of information and query resolution. Take forward complex casework with DH staff arising from payroll related issues. Continuously review team processes to ensure process efficiency monthly reconciliation of Payroll reports to support DH Finance requirements resolving discrepancies where required to provide support to the Senior Manager within Finance as required.

The postholder should:

Be able to forge and maintain effective relationships and provide excellent customer service to DH staff / HR/and Payroll colleagues enquiring about Payroll matters have the ability to anticipate, manage and arrive at solutions arising from payroll related issues, possess excellent communication Have the ability to manage and continuously improve a monthly cycle to ensure process efficiency improves the service for all maximising the benefits of technology. Possess excellent Excel skills enabling them to manipulate data from a variety of sources although no formal Payroll or Finance qualification is required, some knowledge of Payroll processes

PAYE as well as Financial Management experience would be an advantage

This post is for a maximum of 12 months for Maternity leave cover
