Our client, an independent school in Wimbledon is looking to appoint a prep school Music teacher (Y3-8) to start in September 2017. The position is a full-time, permanent post.

The school is friendly, professional and well-resourced, providing a strong all-round education that is based on academic excellence. Students here are bright, inquisitive, busy and engaged and they achieve a great deal but it is not a 'hot-house'. Students here do well because they are happy and enjoy being at school. There are approximately 450 on roll.

The Department consists of the Head of Junior School Music and one further academic teacher. There is a large team of approximately 40 Visiting Music Staff several of whom direct ensembles and/or choirs. There is a comprehensive music curriculum and schemes of work in place that provide continuity and integration. The curriculum acknowledges and incorporates the work of several eminent music educators (e.g. Kod??ly and Stocks) as well as the experience of the current Head of Music. Designed especially for the School, the curriculum caters for the musical needs of all as well as including music theory, singing and practical music-making at every level.

The Department manages a busy schedule of concerts at both internal and external venues. There are many musical events during the year, ranging from frequent Informal Concerts, Showcase Concerts, House Music Competitions, Junior and Senior School Piano Recitals, Piano Masterclasses, Priory and Rushmere Young Musician competitions, music festivals, musicals, as well as Junior School Services, Carol Services and Christmas concerts.

This is an exciting opportunity for a committed and enthusiastic Music teacher willing to make an energetic and valuable contribution to a busy and successful department. The successful candidate will be:

*An able, well-qualified and experienced teacher
*A versatile musician with good keyboard skills in both sight-reading and accompanying
*Able to plan, deliver and manage academic lessons, rehearsals and performances
*Able to develop, manage and conduct a choir and ensemble
*Able to choose and arrange music for pupils of advanced ability
*Able to demonstrate competence with IT and music software
*Able to deliver lessons which inspire and motivate pupils to achieve
