Medacs Healthcare with over 25 years' experience as a leading nursing agency and preferred supplier to several prominent NHS Trust, we are currently recruiting for a Paediatric Nurses RSCN

We are currently recruiting Peadiatric nurses for our client in Essex. Our client is a District General Hospital providing acute services to people of West Essex and East Hertfordshire and has a positive and successful approach to developing and delivering health care. Hospital is located 25 minutes from Central London by train.
The Trust is climbing the performance league tables and was shortlisted this year for the first ever National Compassionate Patient Care Award and finished runner - up in the 500 entry Guardian Public Service Award for measuring excellence.

Duties & Responsibilities

* Ensure that each child is assessed and that their care is planned, implemented and evaluated, and that this is accurately documented

* Provide care with an advanced clinical understanding of the therapies and drugs used within PICU and be competent in their administration

* Understands the correct use and assembly of required equipment within PICU, understand safety precautions and ensure appropriate cleaning of equipment

* To be competent in the administration of medication, including intravenous routes

* Maintaining and monitoring levels of stock to ensure there are adequate levels of supplies

* To ensure clinical practice is evidence based or peer reviewed

* To ensure that treatments prescribed by the medical staff are carried out, and that interdisciplinary team members are informed of changes in the patient's condition

* To communicate complex and sensitive information effectively to patients, carers and other staff, overcoming any barriers to understanding and providing support during distressing or emotional events

* To develop open and trusting relationships with other members of the multidisciplinary team, other departments and community services as necessary

* To take charge of the clinical area, utilising appropriate support as necessary

* To manage allocated resources effectively and efficiently. This includes maintaining the correct skill mix of staff for patient dependency, bed management, utilisation of time and equipment, in the absence of senior staff

Skills and Experience

* NMC Registered- Registered Sick Children's Nurse (RSCN)

* Extensive knowledge and experience as a Children's Nurse in a Paediatric Intensive Care Unit

* Basic/Intermediate Paediatric Life Support
*
* Understanding of Safeguarding issue

* Teaching and mentoring experience

* Excellent written and verbal communication
