Finance Manager - The Summary

The Finance Manager will ensure the company makes sound financial decisions and supports the commercial development of the business by partnering closely with the MD and various functions, providing advice, tracking performance metrics and creating financial models. Build complex scenarios that serve as a basis for recommendations that managers of the business draw from to make critical decisions. Responsible for forecasting, budgeting, preparing management accounts and schedules for Head Office for Group consolidation purposes.

The role reports to the Managing Director, with a strong dotted line to the Finance Director and Group Financial Controller

DIRECT REPORTS: Accounts Assistant Payroll / Purchase Ledger Clerk Sales / Purchase Ledger Clerk / Credit Controller

Finance Manager - RESPONSIBILITIES

* Development and maintenance of financial ledgers and accounting processes.
* Understand detail of all stock processed through the manufacturing activity of the site. Daily reconciliation of GRNI, stock, WIP, finished goods and despatch movements. Analysis and resolution of any unexpected transaction types or inconsistencies.
* Maintenance of product costs, ensuring they are monitored and updated as appropriate.
* Preparation of monthly consolidated P&L, Cashflow and Balance Sheet to Group reporting standards.
* Preparation of weekly sales and margin reports.
* Foreign currency forecasting and reporting.
* Timely production of statutory and internal financial reports.
* Preparation of VAT returns.
* Cash management and treasury duties.
* Preparation of budgets, forecasts and cash flows.
* Monitor and analyse results against budgets, forecasts and trends.
* Assist the design and maintenance of the balanced scorecard for the business area working with management.
* Ensure compliance with Group Operating Rules and Procedures.
* Ensure that appropriate systems and internal controls are developed, implemented and maintained.
* Managing the implementation of Epicor as a new business system.
* Test financial plans/commercial proposals to ensure they are properly grounded, identifying all critical factors and issues within the business and ensuring that there is sound understanding of risk and opportunity.
* Adhoc projects covering a wide range of areas.

Finance Manager - Knowledge, skills and experience

* Qualified accountant ACCA or CIMA.
* Knowledge and aptitude for accounting & costing of multiple manufacturing processes and products.
* Good grounding of IT literacy.
* Experience of SAGE.
* Experience of implementing business systems, such as Epicor or SAP.
* Advanced Excel skills.
* Intermediate Access Database / SQL Database skills.
* Ability to build strong working relationships with people from all levels of the organisation.
* Proven financial analysis-related experience with knowledge of financial accounting, financial analysis, financial modelling, planning, forecasting and management reporting.
* Experience of International Trade.
* Strong analytical and investigative skills with proven experience in interpreting and analysing financial information.
* Experience of producing work to a high standard while managing a range of tasks simultaneously with competing deadlines.
