Victoria Walker is recruiting for a Packaging Technologist to join a manufacturer of thermal insulating products based in Worcestershire, on a full time, permanent basis.

As a Packaging Technologist, the main purpose of your role will be responsibility and accountability for supporting innovative and effective packaging developments, working closely with external Customers and Suppliers and with internal Sales, Marketing, Production and Quality Teams. Reporting to the Chief Technical Officer, this person will join a fast growing packaging company focused on innovative thermal protection solutions. These are generally used in the distribution of high value, temperature sensitive pharmaceutical and healthcare products. The company offers a salary in the region of GBP25-30,000pa depending on experience, and as this is a permanent role the company are looking for longevity. Some international travel may be required in the future.

Further responsibilities of this Packaging Technologist will include:
??Design and qualify innovative flexible insulated packaging solutions to meet specific customer and/or market applications
??Managing design projects from an initial brief by liaising with customers during the development process to final qualification, validation and release to production.
??Visiting customer sites to work on specific projects or to support a sales enquiry
??Providing technical product support to Customers and colleagues within Sales and other internal departments, recommending appropriate solutions where required
??Preparing and conducting laboratory tests using approved processes, equipment and materials
??Writing of technical documentation to required standards; to include Engineering Memos; Validation/ Qualification Protocols and Reports; Performance Summaries and User Guides
??Responsibility for the calibration of all equipment used for testing and evaluation of the results
??Creating 2D Technical Drawings to required standards
??Utilising Thermal Simulation software to assess material properties and to simulate packaging system performance
??Researching materials to identify suitable new materials to support innovation within new product developments and value improvements
??Performing required tests, interpret & evaluate data, report results and advise management on suitability and application of new materials
??Supporting with New Product Implementation activities, assisting in the management of factory trials and establishment of production standards where required

As a Packaging Technologist, you will have the following qualifications, skills and experience:
-Science based degree preferred in Packaging Design, Materials Science or similar discipline (Chemistry is not appropriate for this role) - HNC/ HND or equivalent considered
-Proven industrial experience in packaging design, development or testing environment
-Good range of technical knowledge and experience within flexible materials
-Keen interest in NPD within highly regulated markets i.e. Healthcare
-CAD 2D/3D Technical Drawing Skills
-Project management skills
-Commitment to working the hours required to fulfil the job, including flexibility of working
-Must be able to travel to visit customers, suppliers and subcontractors as and when necessary

Any experience of the following would be advantageous but not essential:
-Thermal conductivity/insulation or reflectivity experience
-Experience in the 'Temperature Controlled Supply Chain' environment
-Knowledge of thermodynamics
