Pricing Analyst + Senior Pricing Analyst - City of London

Job description

Our client, a leading brand in the insurance market, is seeking pricing analysts to join their pricing team, which focuses on maximizing the UK & Ireland, business' return on capital through technical and value based pricing, client segmentation, targeting our budgeted growth and profit objectives.

The Role

The right candidate will be expected to provide support, technical analysis and wider analytical insight to the UK underwriting and product teams.

The candidate should be looking to influence the profitable growth of the UK & Ireland book by recommending pricing actions based on a thorough statistical analysis of internal and third party data, going beyond the traditional GLM techniques, integrating Advanced Analytics & Data Science. The team (and this role) will play a critical part in embedding our portfolio underwriting initiative within UK & Ireland business.

The right candidate:

A graduate of high calibre with commercial experience within a general insurance environment (is essential!) and preferably in pricing.

High level of numeric competence and excellent data gathering, manipulation and statistical skills.

An aptitude for innovative problem solving

Excellent communication skills with ability to simplify the complex


Good general knowledge of programming and statistical tools such as SAS, R, Emblem, Excel, VBA and SQL

Good understanding of Commercial Lines and Personal Lines insurance through various distribution channels.

Key Responsibilities:

Providing analysis to influence the growing book of high and mid net worth household plus commercial books by:

Leading and completing pricing analyses and modelling projects needed to deliver relevant, comprehensive and timely pricing and underwriting recommendations to the business.

Managing, influencing, and negotiating with, stakeholders in the wider business to deliver budgeted volume and profitability targets over the underwriting cycle.

Ensuring that all recommendations made by the team are consistent with the overall growth and underwriting strategy, and oversee own recommendations through to implementation.

Act as a point of contact for product and portfolio underwriting managers and work with them to develop pricing models and approaches that enhance ability to select and accurately price business according to the risk presented
