Our client is one of the world's leading manufacturers of laboratory glassware and reusable plastics and is home to some of the most famous brands in science. Their extensive product range features over 5,000 general purpose and specialised glassware and reusable plastic laboratory products carrying some of the best known names in science

As part of their future growth plans for, improvement of existing manufacturing equipment and development of new processes targeting the glass pharmaceutical and packaging markets is a key factor.

In support of these exciting challenges, they now have a vacancy for the post of Process Development Engineer.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager and as a crucial member of the Operations team, the process development engineer will be responsible for undertaking improvement projects of existing production processes and the design, development and commissioning of new equipment and systems for manufacturing operations

The Role

* To identify efficiency and cost reduction improvements within existing machinery and equipment processes.
* To support the manufacturing site with practical hands on activity to ensure that all relevant processes are maintained to a high standard to achieve output demands.
* To liaise, advise and specify requirements to design consultants and subcontractors and monitor design and manufacture to ensure compliance with all aspects of design, function, quality, safety, time and cost.
* To assess projects and provide information on proposal, cost, benefits, savings and timing, necessary for justification of capital expenditure authorisation.

About you

To be successful in this position, you should have practical analytical capabilities coupled with Industrial experience and knowledge within production engineering projects preferably with an electrical bias.

Successful candidates should meet the following requirements:

* HNC / HND (or equivalent) qualification in electrical or mechanical engineering (electrical preferred).
* Full understanding of high volume production processes.
* Lean manufacturing, including SMED, 6 sigma, Kaizan and wastes
* Problem solving and usage of tools such as FMEA, SPC, Value Engineering.
* Experience of PLC / Control Panel systems would be advantageous.
* Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
* Good communication and project management skills
