Our client, a well-regarded Independent Preparatory School in London, is looking for a suitably qualified and experienced Head of English to join their successful and thriving school.

The School:
The school is an established Prep Day School in trendy north London which caters for boys between the ages of 4 and 13 and prepares them for entry into the country's leading senior schools. The academic performance of the school is well above the national average despite the school being non-selective on entry. The school has an excellent reputation for placing pupils into the right follow-on schools and has been commended for successfully producing well rounded, academic and happy students. The school has received the highest award at inspection and continues to be a leading school in a competitive area of London.

The role:
Due to the current department leader moving up to an SLT role, an experienced Head of English is required to lead this central subject in this vibrant and forward-thinking school. The position requires a full time permanent commitment which will commence in September 2017. The teaching will be shared with another member of staff and it is expected that the successful applicant will be teach scholarship in the upper end of the school. Class sizes are small and children are engaged and hardworking.

Salary will be determined on the schools own generous scale and will be commensurate with skillset and experience.

The candidate:
The ideal candidate will be someone who has a passion for working with young people and will already have experience teaching in the independent sector towards senior school entry exams. Experience of leading a department or teaching scholarship isn't necessary as there is support in the school available to the incoming candidate to develop these areas. Candidates should have a good degree in a relevant field of study and be an outstanding practitioner who is eager to take on school-wide responsibility.

If you do have the relevant requirements and would like to be considered for this opportunity please send through your CV, or call Phil at Connaught for more information.
