Head of SEND required by a Midlands Local Authority to effectively lead and develop the SEND Service - with a particular focus on stakeholder/partner engagement/relationship management, SEND reforms and local area joint inspection preparedness. To GBP70k, Midlands.

The Head of SEND will be lead and develop special education provision within the region at all levels. Key duties will include:
  • Strategic leadership
  • Operational delivery of the SEND Service (0-25) in line with local need, legislation and strategic plan
  • Drive progress on ongoing transformation of services and SEND reform activity
  • Ensure service preparedness for local area joint inspection
  • Line management and motivational leadership
  • Performance management and quality assurance
  • Develop effective systems and processes for monitoring and analysing placements to inform commissioning and strategic planning
  • Partner and stakeholder engagement and relationship management
  • Service budget and resource management
As the successful Head of SEND you will have good knowledge and/or experience of the following
  • SEND Service operational management and delivery
  • SEND statutory requirements, the Children Act, Equality Standards and SEN funding
  • Transformation/change management within a large and diverse organisation
  • Partner/Stakeholder Management
  • Leadership and Line management
