Universal Credit Area Director, Department for Work and Pensions 2 Roles – Scotland and North of England
The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is one of the largest Government Departments, with an enormously ambitious and challenging agenda to deliver. The Department provides services and support to over 22 million people and is responsible for over 730 million benefit payments each year totalling £67 billion. Universal Credit is the Government's flagship digital transformation programme and represents a fundamental change for Britain’s welfare system. The new Full Service is now rolling out across every Jobcentre and Local Authority up and down the country, building towards a caseload of 7m claims when complete with annual managed expenditure of £60 billion.
We are looking for exceptional operational leaders who can build teams and fulfil the potential of Universal Credit for our communities in Great Britain. As a Universal Credit Area Director, you will be a highly motivated individual, leading significant organisational change and inspiring teams to realise their potential of Universal Credit. You will be responsible for ensuring the successful transition to, and delivery of, Universal Credit within your area, including providing financial control, striving for excellence in customer service and building relationships with key stakeholders across the country.
To be successful in this post you will have exceptional leadership skills with experience of leading complex operations and enabling cultural transformation. You will have astute business awareness and an ability to implement large scale transformation in an operational context. You will also be confident in building strong relationships and working with senior stakeholders within a political environment. Finally, fast-paced and demanding work will inspire you to deliver your best work and to motivate others to do the same.
