A Supply Chain Development Specialist is required by a market leading Scientific Instrumentation company to join and support their Supply Chain Management team, specifically within NPI.

Role: Supply Chain Development Specialist

As Supply Chain Development Specialist you will be responsible for:

+ Managing New Product Introductions (NPI) from a supply chain perspective
+ Ensuring Strategic suppliers are used that have DFM/DFA capability and are globally competitive in Quality, Cost & Delivery
+ Ensuring the purchasing team are aligned in both NPI and managing obsolescence and after-sales requirement of outgoing parts and an overview of progress is maintained
+ Ensuring Strategic supplier requirements are reviewed by commodity and that Long Term Agreements (LTA) are used to secure supply in line with the strategy
+ Management and implementation of purchasing improvement initiatives that deliver measurable and sustainable benefits to the organisation including improved delivery, reduced cost and reduced inventory
+ Contributing to the development of a commodity based strategic supply chain solution for assigned areas of purchase spend that deliver measurable benefits to the business
+ Negotiating commercial terms for new parts (eg price, tooling, payment, delivery, order mechanisms) in accordance with Group Supply Chain and Ops Supply Chain Management
+ Working with Operations Teams to implement Kanban, VMI and other JIT delivery systems
+ Identify and drive make versus buy opportunities, value engineering activities and other cost reduction exercises

Experience:

As Supply Chain Development Specialist you will have experience of:

+ Degree/CIPS qualified or equivalent in a relevant discipline
+ A working knowledge and use of ERP and MRP for BOM, scheduling, forecast analysis, and capacity planning
+ Knowledge of purchasing concepts in a manufacturing environment
+ Operation and interpretation of MRP process
+ Strong experience with New Product Introduction
+ Experience in developing category and supplier management strategies
+ Ability to negotiate commercial terms during an engineering change
+ A working knowledge of Kanban/Pull Systems/other JIT
+ Raising tenders, undertaking quotation assessment and ability to analyse costs in relation to market analysis
+ Knowledge of engineering concepts related to design for manufacture, pre-production, industrial engineering, purchasing and supply chain processes, integration, cost effectiveness, quality, and readiness for production
