A Lead Design Engineer is required by a market leading Automotive consultancy working with prestigious companies around the world to join their innovative Design Engineering team working on Trim and Fixtures.

Role: Lead Design Engineer

As Lead Design Engineer you will be responsible for:

+ Preparing CAD geometry to deliver manufacturing engineering programs
+ Generation of 2D & 3D CAD designs for manufacture of Jigs & Fixture, Checking Fixtures
+ Leading the full design administration activity; BOM (Bill of Materials), Family Tree, Release documentation and organising part acquisition
+ Supporting idea generation and problem resolution through day-to-day working and structured Design Reviews
+ Lead in presenting design solutions to internal and external customers
+ Communicating with internal and external customers on a day-to-day basis
+ Maintaining design and project documentation to satisfy quality management system and customer-specific requirements
+ Formal and on the job training will be provided in the use of the software and design techniques as required
+ Ensuring delivery of completed Jigs & Fixtures, Checking Fixtures with full documentation (Operators manuals, GA and detail drawings, Measurement reports, Maintenance schedules, Gauge R&R)
+ Knowledge of GD&T and tolerance stack ups to produce a robust fixture
+ Ability to train others in a developing team in line with business growth

Experience:

As Lead Design Engineer you will have experience of:

+ Degree qualified or equivalent in Maths/Physics/Engineering
+ Excellent problem solving abilities & 3D spatial awareness
+ Commercially aware
+ Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplined team
+ Can lead teams (c.5 persons) and design projects
+ Advanced CAD skills (Catia V5)
+ Knowledge of design process and tools (dFMEA, FMA, APQP, GD&T, Tolerances)
+ Knowledge of Checking Fixtures, Jigs & Fixture Design
