The Department for International Trade (DIT) is one of Whitehall’s newest departments. We have overall responsibility for developing, coordinating and delivering a new trade and investment policy for the UK, including preparing for and then negotiating Free Trade Agreements and market access deals with non-EU countries, and promoting UK trade and investment across the world. We are a department for the whole of the UK and we work with business partners across the country. In our engagement, we strive to understand businesses’ needs for the international trading environment and support their ambitions to export and invest across borders.

This will be a challenging, high profile role and is newly created. DIT operates a trade and investment network across 110 countries with nearly 3000 people in total and a £400m budget.  You will have a large portfolio with accountability for the full range of corporate services. An outstanding leader and role model, you will ensure that DIT delivers to a world class standard.  You will strive for excellence and set strategies for people, financial and systems management - delivering excellent value for money to the taxpayer. As a member of the Executive Board, you will work closely with the senior leadership team to establish and deliver our strategic priorities.

To be successful in this post you will have a strong track record of leading performance and service delivery in a complex organisation. You will have astute business awareness and an ability to implement large scale transformation in an operational context. A visible leader, you will be able to motivate and develop your teams to create a high performing, inclusive culture. You will thrive in a demanding organisation and have the credibility and gravitas to operate effectively in a highly political environment.
